Born in 1964, Keanu Reeves is a Canadian actor best known for his roles in ‘The Matrix’ and ‘John Wick’. However, what many people don’t know is that he was actually born in Beirut, Lebanon. His mother, Patricia Taylor, was a costume designer and his father, Samuel Reeves, was a geologist. Reeves spent most of his childhood in Canada, but his homeland certainly adds to the charm.
Emma Watson – Paris, France

Emma Watson is a British actress best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the ‘Harry Potter’ series. Although she was raised in England, Watson was born in Paris, France in 1990. Her parents lived there at the time, and Watson lived in France until she was five years old. She has since lived in England with her family.
Mila Kunis – Chernivtsi, Ukraine

Mila Kunis is an American actress best known for her roles on ‘That ’70s Show’ and ‘Black Swan’. However, what you certainly don’t know is that she was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was seven years old and she learned English by watching television. Kunis often speaks of her Ukrainian heritage and even visited her hometown in 2013.
Gal Gadot – Rosh HaAyin, Israel

Gal Gadot is an Israeli actress best known for her role as ‘Wonder Woman’ in the DC Extended Universe. She was born in Rosh HaAyin, Israel in 1985 and served in the Israel Defense Forces for two years before pursuing an acting career. Gadot has often spoken of her pride in her Israeli roots and the importance of her military service in shaping her as a person.
Natalie Portman – Jerusalem, Israel

Finally on our list of celebrities born in unusual places, we have Natalie Portman. American actress best known for her roles in ‘Black Swan’ and previous ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. However, she was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1981, and she lived there until she was three years old. Her parents are Jewish and her father is an Israeli citizen. Portman has often spoken of her connection to Israel and her support for the country despite her political controversies.
