Although martial arts is her main life work, Chen’s interest in the sport stems from her experience as a dancer as a child. She studied ballet and ballroom dancing. At the age of five, she also took up swimming and gymnastics. At the age of eight, Chen began training in figure skating and won three gold medals in regional competitions by the age of 11.

His impressive background in martial arts brought Chen to the movies. It was in Hollywood that she met Robert De Niro. So, in 2015, she worked on the set of the film “The Intern”, and she herself played the role of a tai chi instructor in the film, which just helped the character of De Niro.
