Until Death Parted: The Fabulous Love Story of Diana Gurtskaya and Pyotr Kucherenko

The famous singer Diana Gurtskaya was a widow – on May 20, her husband Pyotr Kucherenko, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, died suddenly. A 46-year-old man suffered a heart attack on the plane – unfortunately they didn’t have time to save him. We remember what was the love story of Diana and Peter.

“I like it as it is”

Petr Kucherenko graduated from PFUR with a degree in jurisprudence in 2001. At the beginning of his career he worked as a lawyer, then he began to engage in public relations in the political sphere. At this time, fate reunited him with the singer. And it was purely a business acquaintance. Kucherenko wanted to invite Diana to participate in a campaign. Communication at first was also exclusively official in nature – for a long time Gurtskaya addressed her future husband only to “you” and was even embarrassed by him.

Nevertheless, it was Diana who took the first step towards informal communication – she invited a new acquaintance to her birthday. And that’s when the first spark ran between him. Kucherenko was fascinated by how Gurtskaya performed the song in Georgian. Diana’s voice, sounding a cappella, seemed to penetrate the very heart of the man, and he seemed to look at her in a new way, sensing that there was something more between him and this unusual girl.

Then Peter took the initiative, and he acted in a very paradoxical way – he invited Diana to the cinema. And everything would be fine, but the singer is blind. And the singer was very complex due to the fact that it could somehow affect Peter’s attitude towards her.

However, Gurtskaya still agreed to go to the cinema – she wondered how a man would behave in such a delicate situation, but Kucherenko pleasantly surprised Diana.

The whole movie, and they went to see “Goddess: How I fall in love,” Peter told the singer in his ear what was happening on the screen.

This trust and concern between them, Kucherenko, impressed the singer. This is how Gurtskaya recalled her first dates with her future husband.

“When we started dating, I was shy. I sat there, thinking, ‘What if he notices?’ We went to the cinema with him, then to a cafe. My brother was with us. Petya said, “Eat a delicious cake”, and I was so ashamed, I was terribly embarrassed! But the brother could not stand it and said, “Diana, what are you ashamed of? Petya knows you can’t see! What’s wrong with that?” Diana said.

Soon Gurtskaya realized that she was completely afraid to get close to a man in vain.

“Peter loved me for who I am,” she said.

A marriage without shouting “Bitter!”

Although Diana was already sure of Peter’s love, and she herself felt with all her heart that she could not live without her beloved, the singer responded to the proposal. A candy-bouquet romantic period is one thing, and family life is another. Is it worth putting such a responsibility on a man’s shoulders – to live with a man who will need his support until the end of his days? Such questions swirled in Diana’s head, but the answer to everything was love.

As a result, in 2005, the lovers got married. The party was truly fabulous: the bride looked irresistible in a snow-white embroidered dress with a veil, similar to the outfit of a Disney princess, and then a large Georgian feast with toasts and songs awaited everyone. It’s just “Bitter!” Diana asked not to yell at anyone – she considered it inappropriate to kiss strangers with her husband for fun.

Diana treated her chosen one with such admiration and respect that, they say, Joseph Kobzon even joked that he did not imagine Diana as a divorced woman – only a widow. Alas, over the years, an innocent remark has become a terrible prophecy…

happiness at three

In 2007, the long-awaited child was born from the spouses – the son Konstantin. Throughout the pregnancy, Gurtskaya worried about whether her illness would be inherited by the child. But, fortunately, the boy was born completely healthy.

For Peter, his family was the most important thing in life. And for peace and harmony in her, he did everything. If usually wisdom and the ability to smooth out conflicts in marriage are attributed to women, then in this case it was Kucherenko who had to “extinguish” the fiery Caucasian temper of his wife. And it was Peter who came first to reconcile if there was a quarrel.

“I’m quick-witted and I’m always the first to settle down. Diana, of course, is a very difficult person in this regard, she will pout until the end, she sighs picturesquely. It’s even funny, ”Kucherenko himself recalled in an interview.

However, having become a mother, Diana herself mellowed. The couple also dreamed of a daughter, but did not come true.

But the singer’s personal dreams came true – her chosen one became for her a real fairy-tale prince, whom she met in real life.

“I just dreamed of a prince. Intelligent, decent, cultured and loving. Petya turned out to be such a prince … Before him, I had boiling hobbies and passions, and there were disappointments, but all this was not love. And with him I understood the main thing: I am a woman and I am loved, ”said Gurtskaya.

Alas, the harsh reality turned out to be even harsher than all the witches in fairy tales. And suddenly she interrupted the fairy tale – as if forgetting that her characters had to live happily ever after and die on the same day, death taught lovers too soon.
