Actress Giovanna Ewbank has faced harsh criticism after being recorded by her husband, Bruno Gagliasso, being moved by her daughter, Titi, after ‘The Little Mermaid’ was shown in theatres. The digital influencer Lívia Zaruty did not mince words in criticizing the actress commenting on the incident, stating that Giovanna was taking advantage of her daughter to promote the Disney film.
“Crying Cookies, it looks like a train has passed in the movie ‘The Little Mermaid’… And you think there’s no commercial? You think Disney isn’t sponsoring? Where’s the camera? Where’s it, record!”, he said in a video posted on Instagram.
Zaruty also questioned Giovanna’s decision to adopt black children from another country: “Guys, when these black children grow up they will be able to charge black money, because what would become of these two white, blue-eyed, standard, in Brazil today?”, he asked. “Here the street is full of black children, no one is looking, but they go looking for two black children in Africa and advertise. What would their life be like without these black children? What would the argument be?” added Zaruty.
She also captioned the video: “What would Bruno Gagliasso and Giovanna Ewbank be without this Million Dollar Afro Money! These two black kids will build an empire for blue eyed white people, with interest and correction. Imagine how much publicity they earn at cost • Adoption with an investment of decades until you come of age and decide what to do with all this million dollar exposure.
The post sparked numerous debates on social media. And after the backlash, Zaruty posted a second video, wondering why she could be sued for commenting on the situation. “What will they charge me with if they threw the crying black child into the net. Is there a white woman next to it?”
He adds alongside the video: “Okay, now it’s the black woman’s fault for questioning 2 white people who they say are saviors throwing a black minor in the media. They want the media, they’ll get the media. Just stop using people of innocent color to appear in the press! No, I didn’t say much… If you think this is bad, go to PayPal and donate to us here on the hill.”
It’s not Zaruty’s first controversial post, which he’s been provoking with his comments since “BBB 23.” At the time he accused the Rede Globo program of simplifying the racial issue, reducing all mestizos to blacks and anyone with dark skin to militants. “This reality is not just a place to launch new sub-celebrities. The program is now responsible for revealing new black cause activists in Brazil! from Wakanda.”
