Disappeared and left the cinema: what happened to the children of the favorite film “Foundling”

The film “Foundling” about the adventures of a little girl Natasha in Moscow is one of the pearls of the classics of Soviet cinema. The star of the film, of course, was Faina Ranevskaya, but the child actors gave the image its charm and were not at all lost against the background of professional actors. How was their fate?

Veronika Lebedeva – Natasha

The main role went to Veronika Lebedeva, who at the time of filming was 4.5 years old. Despite such a young age, the little actress received quite “adult” fees – 75 rubles per shooting day. By the way, the acting assistant spotted Veronica in the cinema, where the girl came with her parents. Although Veronica, like Natasha, completely fascinated the audience, the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War prevented her from continuing her career.

The family of the young actress went to the evacuation – there was no time for the cinema. And later, when it was time to go to college, Veronika had already given up her childhood dream of becoming an artist and chose the more necessary profession of a teacher. She was married, but became a widow in 2008. Today Lebedeva is already 88 years old. In recent years she has been seriously ill, suffered several strokes and now lives in isolation.

Elya Bykovskaya – Nina

The role of Natasha’s brother’s friend remained the only one in the filmography of Elina Bykovskaya. At the time of filming, she was 13 years old. Elya studied at a ballet school, and before “Foundling” she was invited to play a role in the film “Mayakovsky”, but plans with the girl were finally cut off, and they did not enter the picture. During the Great Patriotic War, Eli’s tracks were lost. According to one information, she died during the bombardment on the way to evacuation, according to another, she entered the partisans, became a brave intelligence officer and was hanged by the Germans in 1943.

Some elders said that Elya survived the war years and returned to Moscow, but soon died of oncology. Reliable data has not reached our days, but one thing is clear – Elya really died young, because all data about her stopped at that time.

Dima Glukhov – Yura

The role of Natasha’s brother, through whose fault the girl ran away from home, was played by 13-year-old Dima Glukhov. For the boy, this was the first role in the cinema – she also became the last. Despite his bright appearance, Dima did not continue to act in films. All his life he worked as a simple communications engineer in Khimki. Unfortunately, almost nothing is known of his adult life. In 2006 he passed away.

Vitya Boyko – Alyosha

Vita Boyko in the film got the charismatic role of a plump boy with a dog who took part in the search for Natasha and dreamed that her pet would serve on the frontier. After the “Foundling”, already in the war years, Vitya starred in another film – “Fight under the Falcon”, released in 1942. According to some reports, in the same year Boyko went to school on the Arbat and lived nearby with his mother. His classmates remembered him as a happy, cheerful boy. But after losing his tracks, Vitya no longer acted in films.
