Rihanna’s shows have “more booze and drugs” than rock, says the guitarist

Nuno Bettencourt, who has worked with the pop diva on two tours, is in Brazil to perform with the American band Extreme, this Friday, in Sao Paulo

the guitarist Nuno Bettencourt – who was hired in 2009 by Rihanna play on tour The last girl on earth and followed the singer around the world until the tour Diamonds, in 2013 – revealed the biggest difference between touring with rock stars and touring with a pop star. “There’s a lot more alcohol and drugs on Rihanna’s tour,” she said in an interview with Uol.

Nuno is one of the founders of the American band extreme and one of the stars of the famous black and white music video by More than wordsnext to the singer Gary Cherone. But for 14 years the Portuguese has also left its mark on pop music.

Among many performances, the guitarist also took the stage alongside Rihanna at the iconic Super Bowl halftime show, earlier this year. The event was held after a 7-year hiatus for the singer, who appeared to be pregnant with her second child, ending the speculation.

When asked if rock fans teased him for playing with a pop artist, he confessed that he doesn’t know and usually doesn’t read what people write about him on social media.

“Musicians are like that. We could play in a stadium with 90,000 people and everyone could sing our songs. If there’s a guy in the back of the audience giving you the middle finger, that’s the one we’re going to think. We’re going to think, ‘Why doesn’t he love us?’ ?’ Then just a comment that says, ‘You guys are terrible, I hate the new songs’ and we start crying,” he joked.

Extreme will perform this Friday, the 2nd, at the festival The best of blues and rock, at Ibirapuera Park, in São Paulo, with its tour. And she’s preparing to release her first new album in 15 years.
