Actress Shannen Doherty, known from the series ‘Charmed’ and ‘Barrados no Baile’, has been diagnosed with brain metastases, in her fight against breast cancer. She revealed the diagnosis of the disease for the first time in 2015. Through a video posted on social networks this Tuesday (6/6), the actress informed her 2 million followers that the cancer cells mirrored and migrated into the brain.
“On January 5, my CT scan revealed metastases in my brain. On January 12, I had my first radiation therapy session. Of course, I’m terrified,” she excitedly confessed on Instagram. Since the beginning of the battle against the disease, the actress has been using social networks to talk about the cure.
The publication has already reached more than 1.3 million views in less than a day. “I’m extremely claustrophobic and there’s a lot going on in my life. I’m lucky to have great doctors and a fantastic technical team at Cedars-Sinai [o hospital de Los Angeles]. But this fear, this turmoil, this moment? This is the reality of cancer.”
In the comments, some celebrities have spoken out in support of Doherty. Actress Selma Blair (“Cultured Intentions”), who battles multiple sclerosis, has expressed support for her. “This is a lot to go through, again. And I hope all the wise peace you’ve learned finds you in your moments of terror. Know that we are holding you back,” she wrote. Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Wolf Pack”) praised her strength: “You’re a warrior,” she said.
Cancer returned during ‘Barrados no Baile’ revival
Despite first being diagnosed eight years ago, Doherty went into remission in 2017 after undergoing treatment. This is the stage where the disease lies dormant, leaving no traces in the body. However, during an interview in 2020, the actress revealed that the disease had returned to stage 4, the most severe.
Even in the face of the challenge posed by the diagnosis, she continued to work. Even when she recorded the revival of “Barrados no Baile”, called “BH90210” and shown in 2019, the actress revealed that she already knew about the return of her disease.
