Icy silence: How Queen Rania’s ‘adoptive mother-in-law’ painfully reminded the Jordanian royal family of her dislike

At the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and the beautiful Rajva, everyone congratulated the newlyweds and their parents. But one person skipped the party – Queen Dowager Noor, née Lisa Najib Halabi. She does not like her stepson Abdullah II, who did not allow her son Nur to become the heir to the throne, and does not hide her cold attitude towards Rania – after all, she took the title from her.

Guests who came from all over the world for a magnificent wedding were delighted with both the celebration and the beauty of the newlyweds. However, a key member of the Hashemite royal family did not attend the wedding ceremony and the wedding banquet that followed: Queen Noor, 71.

The fourth wife of King Hussein I, the mother-in-law of the current King Abdullah II and the “foster mother-in-law” of Queen Rania, very active on social networks, did not even post congratulations there, not even a hint of the past celebration. It smacks of scandal!

It is not known whether the Queen Dowager of Jordan was not invited on purpose, or whether she missed the wedding on her own initiative (no less intentionally). It is known that Nur did not like Rania in 1993, when Abdullah ibn Hussein was about to marry a Palestinian woman.

Also, Nur, the fourth wife of King Hussein I, for some reason did not appear in the official wedding photos of Abdullah and Rania. The “adoptive mother-in-law” got angry, deciding that the young woman was showing her dismissive attitude in this way – although, most likely, there was some kind of misunderstanding, since Abdullah was not the crown prince at the time. , and there was no indication of Rania’s impending ascension.

And when Rania took Nur’s place on the throne six years later, the layer of ice between the women literally increased by several meters.

Also, one of Nur’s sons, Prince Hamza, decided to confront Abdullah. His intention to stage a coup with the aim of changing power has been revealed – if all had gone well, Hamza would have become the new king of Jordan, because, according to his father’s will, Abdullah II has first named his younger half-brother as heir, not his own eldest son.

But insidious intentions were revealed, Hamza confessed everything, and Abdullah deprived him of his right to the throne. Since then, the conflict between the brothers has been brewing, which we talked about in detail in the article Tragedies and Secrets of the Royal Family of Jordan.

It is important to note that Noor was the only member of the Hashemite royal family to defend Hamza vehemently and publicly. His other children maintain warm relations with Abdullah, were at the wedding of Hussein’s heir, and hold important government posts. The ruling dynasty and the people of Jordan condemn the prince for his repeated attempts to destabilize the situation and appreciate the peace maintained by the king, and all his attempts to overcome the economic crisis.

Of course, like any critic of the authorities, Hamza has like-minded people, including among the nobility and big business – it was their support that he relied on in his attempts to challenge the power of Abdullah. But the influence of the King of Jordan is very great, and he was able to establish good relations with all the representatives of the main world powers, so the opposition remained in the minority, and Hamza’s plans came to light. Now the king’s younger brother is somehow under house arrest and not leaving Jordan.

Therefore, speaking from the side of the rebellious son does not add Nur points. But at the same time, she remains the official representative of the crown and the dean of the dynasty. And ignoring Hussein’s marriage is a kind of statement by which Nur underlined the split, to which Abdallah and Rania, who put the interests of the family above all else, react very painfully.

Well, it seems that wealthy families have the same problems as less wealthy ones!
