Géssica Kayane was back on people’s lips this Wednesday (7/6) after announcing the news of the upcoming “Farofa da Gkay”. According to the influencer, the popular event will have 50% black guests by 2026.
Gkay’s announcement also introduced Antonio Isuperio as the festival’s new curator of diversity, as well as scheduling a live broadcast for this Thursday (8/6), at 8pm, but the post was removed from social networks.
It turns out that the post had a negative impact on Internet users, who considered Gkay’s decision artificial. “He set this as a goal, as if he were a company trying to achieve zero carbon emissions by the x date,” one Twitter user pointed out. Do you have three years to make black friends?” asked another, pointing to the lack of black influencers at previous parties.
“Gkay put a racial quota on a birthday party guest list. Even if the intention is good, it must be said: it is impossible to be friends with people of color, transgender … obligation?” pointed out another.
There have also been those who have complained that Gkay’s “quota policy” is not really pro-diversity. “How lazy when they say ‘diversity’ and can only think ‘black’, Brazil is so vast, this word should not be used only for one group, but take it in its entirety. And that is for everything that happens on diversity in Brazil,” analyzed another.
“It would be really cool if you put a fair amount of trans/transvestite influencers on it as well, and it’s not even a meme,” another profile suggested.
Despite the criticisms, there was no shortage of influencers in favor of the social initiative. “What he is doing is committing himself to increasing the number of black influencers at the event. As several companies have also done. Farofa is not a simple party and putting at least 50% black influencers in this event seems to me an important step forward” , analyzed drag queen Pietra Parker.
“Exactly, Pietra. I don’t know why there are so many people who speak badly. I’m very happy. It’s a very important step,” added content creator Nivea Voltran.
Antonio Isuperio, in turn, was criticized for defending the announcement made by Gkay: “Our commitment is for transformation, people”.
Exactly Stone. I don’t know why so many people talk about it. I’m really happy. It’s a very important step. Maybe now my invite doesn’t come here to USA 😏

It would be really nice if you also included a good portion of trans/transvestite influencers! And it’s not even a meme pic.twitter.com/UKLKaS2SyE
