João Lee pays tribute to his mother on social media on the day that marks one month since the singer’s death

Rita Lee (1947-2023), died May 8, victim of lung cancer, showed in his book Another autobiography (Globo Livros), released after his death, of how he faced the terrible disease with good humor and even a certain amount of sarcasm – and without any self-pity.

This Thursday, June 8, Rita’s middle child, producer John Lee, proved that the singer was sincere in everything she wrote. She posted a video of Rita as she makes her way to the hospital for another phase of her lengthy treatment (she doesn’t specify whether it was for a consultation, exam, or chemotherapy session).

In the video, Rita appears in the passenger seat of the car, with a turban on her head, singing and dancing to the song. the monstera funk song released by the American group elegant in 1978. In the text accompanying the post, João Lee wrote that it was Rita who cheered them up during the ups and downs of the disease. “This video is just one example of how she has managed to turn these difficult moments into magical and special moments. Today marks a month without you, mom. The desire only grows. I love you forever,” wrote João.

“She was never let down and never in a bad mood. Always head held high, courageous, determined and strong,” she added.

João, who moved in with Rita and Robert de Carvalho during the singer’s treatment, he detailed what the routine was like the day before the “trip” from within São Paulo to the capital, a journey that took around 45 minutes.

“No movies and series until the wee hours of the morning (one of mum and dad’s favorite times) and we all went to bed earlier the day before,” she said.
