Circumstances band on the music video for “Icebreaker” in a special interview for VOICE

“Circumstances” is a truly original band. Did you create this style on purpose or did it happen on its own?

Lenia:
We voluntarily did not work on it. We did a lot of experimentation on the way to our own sound, but the image of the band is now dictated not only by the music, but also by our concerts, videos, social networks. The Circumstances group is not just Kostya and me, it’s a great creative team.

Today we will try not to talk about the past – enough has already been said in other interviews – we will talk about the present and the future. Tell us what you are proud of today and what are your plans for the future?

Kostia:
– At the moment, we have already released two full albums.
For many, the “Resist” album is associated with youthful maximalism, rebellion, and the “Losses” album already sounds like a goodbye story to childhood/youth.
Our lyrical hero has an inseparable connection both to the mood of the audience and to our own thoughts/experiences. And to be honest, I’m curious where this path will lead our hero 🙂
3. What feelings do you think the track “Icebreaker” should evoke in listeners?

Lenia:
– The sound of “Icebreaker” is different from our previous recordings, we have combined all the musical experience accumulated in this work.
I’m not going to predict the reaction of our audience, someone will like it, someone won’t, we leave the choice to our listeners.

What is special about this video for you? How did you come up with the idea of ​​filming like that?

Kostia:
– It turns out that we only had 2 days to find and shoot a video.
In fact, it was thanks to the unexpected filming of the video that Icebreaker was born. We didn’t plan to release it so soon, the song was very raw.
“We break in blood, start over” – in this song I wanted to capture the moment of realization and becoming on a new path.
We expand on this idea in the video, destroying everything old in the name of new using a baseball bat.

Can you say that your mood strongly influences the choice of stylistic musical decisions in your work? Or are you guided by fashion trends in this regard?

Kostia:
— Sometimes we experiment, mix styles and techniques, dig into details, look for something special to achieve a unique result. Sometimes we just write a song with a guitar, quickly and from the heart. There’s no denying that the vibe and environment are reflected in our work, we try to listen to that.

Do you ever write a song but never release it? How many such compositions have accumulated?

Lenia:
“Of course, there are new things. But everything has its time. Something hasn’t been finalized yet, something needs to be cut.

We have the feeling that the new tracks take on a darker vibe. Is it true ? Or is opinion far-fetched?

Lenia:
– Our last songs, on the contrary, are rather dreamy. Let’s see what happens next.
