The gang reporter Marco Figueredo suffered an attempted robbery on Thursday 29. He was recording a story on Avenida São João, in the central region of São Paulo, when he was surprised by the criminal.
“A guy reached into my pocket for my cell phone, but I quickly grabbed his hand. Our technical assistant Valter Batista was very fast, he came with a team tripod and threw it towards the bandit,” he told Band.com.br.
According to Mark, after the producer tried to help him, more bandits appeared and tried to attack him.
“Initially there was one, but soon after several appeared, throwing objects, boxes at our team. I had a car from Military police in Avenida São João, the PM arrived quickly, I gave the characteristics of the criminal, but he infiltrated the Cracolândia stream and was not arrested”.
Despite the traumatic episode, the band reporter he didn’t have his cell phone taken away.
“It was a big scare, I was shaking at the time and just thinking about it I’m shaking, but I’m fine, the team is fine, we haven’t filed a police report because they didn’t actually take the device.”
According to the journalist, the surprise wasn’t even the fact that the robbery had failed, but that the criminals took action against a team of journalists.
“People who are making a fuss on the street with a camera, a microphone, think they can inhibit a possible robbery, a criminal action. Unfortunately, that didn’t quite happen.”
