Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, Calif., were the scene of an alarming fire this Friday afternoon (6/30). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the crash occurred after a transformer exploded in the studio’s parking lot and drew attention with a huge gray cloud covering the venue.
Information indicates that people close to the site heard the sound of the explosion around 14:00 and immediately called the fire brigade. According to American news portals, the fire was extinguished in 30 minutes and caused no damage to buildings. Also, no injuries were reported.
Black smoke
On social networks, images of Warner wrapped in smoke went viral, leaving netizens shocked by the huge gray cloud coming from the place. According to the Daily Mail, one Twitter user said he heard a “big bang” and that energy “flickered” before the sky filled with smoke. Others also claimed that lights were struck in a few blocks around the famous studio.
Sources told Deadline that the explosion ended up causing a temporary loss of energy at the site.
cause of fire
Still with no revealed cause, the event was ruled an “accident” by authorities, but the investigation is expected to continue, according to the Los Angeles-based Fox channel.
It’s worth mentioning that California is facing a busy summer and preparing to receive severe heat waves. During this time of year, the region’s temperature causes drought and numerous forest fires.
