The sons of Paulo Gustavo and Thales Bretas ask about their mother: “I don’t like lying, inventing”

The dermatologist said that children are influenced by symbolic dates such as Mother’s Day, but that he “tries to explain as best he can”

In an interview with Híbrida magazine, Thales Breta commented on the questions that the children, Romeu and Gael, ask about the family. The boys are the fruit of the relationship between the dermatologist and the actor Paul Gustavdied in May 2021. The twins were fathered via a surrogate mother in 2019 in the United States.

“They’ve already asked me about their ‘mom’, so I explained that dad Paulo and I borrowed a belly to have them. They are bombarded with these symbolic dates, like Mother’s Day, but I try to explain it as best I can” , revealed.

“I don’t like lying, inventing. The mother figure is important, but so is the father figure and I think I have played this role well,” she added.

Thales also stressed that the dream of starting a family has always existed and that it came true after meeting the actor.

“Being a father has always been my dream, but I didn’t know it was possible. Same-sex parenthood has paths, so I thought about adoption, or counting on the help of friends. When I met Paulo, I saw that this it was also his dream,” he said.

The couple celebrated their union in 2015, in a lavish ceremony at Parque Lage in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro.

She also said that she avoids an idealistic view of parenting and that she gets support from friends and family in the twinning routine.

“When people ask me about fatherhood, I say it’s just to have a child if you really want it. If you’re in doubt, if this isn’t really your dream, it’s best to think again.”

Regarding the pain of losing “the great love” of his life, Thales Bretas revealed that before he avoided talking about Paulo Gustavo because it hurt him.

“For a long time I avoided talking [sobre ele]. I did not like it. But, today, I also understand that this helps in coping with loss. Paulo was the great love of my life, my partner. I feel I have gone through a very heavy mourning, because it was my loss and that of so many people together,” he said.
