the composer Danny Elfo70 years old, responsible for several film and television soundtracks such as simpsons AND The Corpse Brideis under development by failing to pay a settlement of US$ 830,000 (approximately R$ 4 million) to subdue an allegation of abuse.

The lawsuit was filed by a former colleague of Elfman, Names Abadiwho accuses him of not having paid the full amount agreed five years ago. The news was revealed by the magazine Rolling stone. According to the report obtained from the vehicle, the victim told police that, over the space of almost a year the composer allegedly exposed himself and masturbated several times in front of her without her consent.

The lawsuit reiterates that both accepted the ruling, in which Elfman allegedly made payments in multiple installments over five years. However, the musician failed to pay two installments of $42,500 in July 2019 and 2021. Abadi is seeking an injunction, seeking the full amount of $85,000 which he claimed Elfman did not pay.

Elfman denies the allegations.

To the Rolling stone, Elfman denied through a lawyer all of Abadi’s allegations, including allegations that he had previously exposed himself or masturbated in front of her. According to the composer, their relationship was platonic, claiming that Abadi she tried to pursue Elfman romantically and retaliated against him after he rejected her.

“It is disappointing, but unfortunately not surprising, that this baseless narrative is being revived now that the payments have stopped. Charges alone should not and do not amount to guilt, and Danny will defend himself and clear his name with the volume of evidence and the other side’s own words — their words speak for themselves,” the rep said.

In a statement to the magazine, Abadi’s attorney Jeff Anderson said, “It is ironic that Mr. Elfman’s current statements are directly contrary to the position he has taken on the underlying litigation and evidentiary documentation.”

previous statement

At a press conference in February, two days before the Gram this year, Abadi spoke out as a survivor of sexual misconduct in the music industry. He said he didn’t vote after seeing the list of nominees for the award (in which Elfman was nominated for Best Instrumental Arrangement), because he said so including bullies.

The pianist has also called for an end to the confidentiality agreements that prevent alleged victims of sexual misconduct from speaking up.”I saw the names of [supostos] bullies who were nominated for a Grammy this year and I couldn’t vote,” he said.

“There is a clear and urgent need to target the experiences of sexual assault survivors in the music industry, who have lost their careers because they have been abused and silenced.”
