If your grandmother does not approve of what you are doing, it can be experienced and even ignored. But not when you’re the grandson of a queen! However, as they say, there would be no happiness, but misfortune helped.

At the beginning of the year, a sensation made the rounds of Denmark: Queen Margrethe II withdrew the titles of prince and princess from the family of her second son Joachim. Now they should be called counts and countesses. Above all, it upset the prince – and now the count – Nicolas, Joachim’s eldest son.

“I’m sad, I’m shocked and confused,” he told reporters his displeasure at his grandmother’s decision.

The Queen even apologized for her decision, but did not return the titles. But now she has gone to meet her grandson. For several years now, Nikolai has tried himself in the modeling business, but until recently his opportunities were severely limited by the rules of the courts. For example, he couldn’t act in commercials. When in 2018 Nikolai appeared in a car rental ad, a scandal erupted.

The Danish royal family immediately reacted: “Members of the royal family do not advertise companies or products. Prince Nicholas regrets the error, which has now been corrected.”

The young aristocrat was only occasionally allowed to stand on the catwalk – for example, at Dior fashion shows. But the situation has changed – and now, it seems, the grandmother has given up. This year, Count Nikolai got his own account in social networks and, recently, a contract with the agency for the promotion of social works. Questioned by the journalists, the royal family gave the following answer: “It goes in the direction of the will of the queen that her four grandchildren can build their life without being limited to particular considerations and obligations.”
