The singer commented on ageism and revealed that she doesn’t see age as something derogatory: “Every year I gain more, I get younger”

In an interview with the podcast one by onepresented by Brown handto the Spotify released this Thursday, 20, the singer Ivete Sangalo, 51, revealed that she’s broken away from society’s misconception of women reaching their 50s. According to her, the age is not a derogatory factor.



“I think one of the things that I’ve accomplished as a woman has been letting go of that age that’s been placed on us as a difficult thing. I think it’s great to be 51 and have that energy,” she stressed. “I have nowhere to dissipate this energy, so I don’t feel age as a derogatory factor, but as a power. I’m alive, I’m doing it,” she said.

Speaking about his professional trajectory, the artist said this vanity has been his biggest villain in his career. “I love hearing myself sing and this responsibility has been relevant to my career growth. I know we are unique and that vanity is our big bad,” he vented.

Ivete also stressed how much he feels sure of himself and of the path he has chosen. “I am the woman I would like to be, in posture, how I like to live, how I think, what I can achieve […] Every year I earn more, I get younger,” he stressed.

According to the artist, age should not be viewed pejoratively and what is needed appreciate the act of getting old. “Time brings that dreaded old age, but it brings so many powerful arguments of self-knowledge and maturity,” she pointed out.
