Tiago Pavinatto takes sides in the war of words between the two representatives of the LGBT+ community on the political scene
“Eduardo Leite represented Jean Wyllys for homophobia. He worked really well. But, if the MPRS sits down and doesn’t move forward with representation, I’d like to write and sign the crime story in a private prosecution for qualified racial injuries from virtual perpetration of the type,” posted the openly gay and right-wing host.
The aforementioned representation to the Rio Grande do Sul Public Prosecution was based on a statement by Wyllys, a member of the PT and supporter of Lula, regarding the maintenance of civic-military schools in the RS as a priority of Jair Bolsonaro. The current federal government has ended the incentive program for this educational institution profile.
“Right-wing and far-right governors were expected to do this. But from a gay…? While gay men with internalized homophobia often develop libidos and fetishes toward authoritarianism and uniforms; if he’s white and rich then…he’s ugly, bee,” Wyllys tweeted on July 14.
Eduardo Leite is one of the few openly homosexuals with elected office, just as Jean Wyllys was in the LGBT+ minority during his tenure in the Chamber of Deputies, between 2011 and 2018.
The Southern governor reacted to being associated with “gays with internalized homophobia” by the former congressman. “A depressing demonstration, full of prejudices in countless directions… and which does nothing to build a society with more respect and tolerance. Jean Wyllys, sorry for your ignorance,” wrote the toucan on Twitter.
Days later, Leite returned to social media to announce the provision to the Public Prosecutor. “Like what I did when I was attacked with homophobic statements by Roberto Jefferson and Jair Bolsonaro, I have decided to file a lawsuit against Jean Wyllys for biased and discriminatory statements against me.”
Jean Wyllys returned to Brazil in July, four and a half years after resigning from his third term before taking over after receiving death threats.
Based in Europe, he became a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Barcelona. He gained national fame on “BBB5”, being the only openly gay reality show champion in 23 editions.
Eduardo Leite spoke openly about his sexuality in July 2021, in an interview with Pedro Bial a Globo, when he signaled his intention to run for president. Months later, in the PSDB previews, he lost his seat to João Doria, who later withdrew from the race.
