The actor and director Geraldo Matheus Torloni, father of Christiane Torloni, died this Friday afternoon, 29 years old, at the age of 93. The death occurred around 5pm (Brasilia time), in the Unimed-Rio hospital, in the West Zone of Rio.

He had been hospitalized since the 10th of this month and, according to the hospital, his death occurred due to natural causes.

Actress Christiane Torloni took to social media to say goodbye to her father, citing a quote from Oscar Wilde to sum up her feelings at the moment.

“I salute my beloved father, Geraldo Matheus, grateful for the beautiful journey we have traveled together. Grateful for the Art, Ethics and Love with which he has blessed me. And as Oscar Wilde says: ‘The mystery of’ Love is greater than the mystery of death.”

The wake and burial of Geraldo Matheus will be held on Saturday 30th in Rio de Janeiro, with a ceremony reserved for family and friends. Geraldo was an actor, director, producer, theater administrator and author.

Throughout his career, he was part of the first class of students at the São Paulo School of Dramatic Arts, in 1948, along with Monah Delacy. In 1954 the two married. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two children, Christiane Torloni and Márcio Torloni, a grandson, Leonardo Carvalho, and a great-grandson, Lucca Carvalho.
