Born in a village near Lisbon, Marina Machete was elected Miss Portugal on Thursday (4). She became the first transsexual to win the title. On November 18th she will be in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, to compete in Miss Universe.

The event will have another trans miss, Rikkie Valerie Kolle, representing the Netherlands (Holland). Before them there was the transsexual precursor Angela Ponce, Miss Spain, who participated in Miss Universe in 2018, but without reaching the final.

Portuguese Navy, 28 years old and 1.76 m tall, works as a flight attendant. As soon as her election was announced, countless prejudicial comments appeared on news sites and social media in her country.

This year Brazil will be represented in the most famous beauty pageant on the planet by Maria Brechane from Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to being a model, she is a journalism student and an educational activist.
