Ancelotti comments on Modric’s future at Real Madrid: ‘He’s not happy’

With the presence of several stars for years, Real Madrid is reformulating its squad, betting on the new generation. The results have already been seen, such as the leadership of the Spanish championship, and Ancelotti has been constantly questioned about the situation of one player: Luka Modric.

The Croatian midfielder, one of the most important midfielders in the club’s history and a five-time Champions League champion, lost space last season with the rise of Tchouaméni and Camavinga. Now, in 2023/24, the player has only three games to start out of 11, out of a total of eight.

In a press conference on the eve of the match against Osasuna, this Saturday (7), Ancelotti answered whether there is a possibility that Modric leaves Real Madrid and whether he can start as a substitute in most of the matches.

– I don’t think he cares about it, we think it’s very important and he knows it too, he doesn’t have this thought and we are happy with him – said the Italian coach, before concluding:

– I talk to him every day and I see a player who is obviously not happy about not playing, but having said that he keeps his motivation and enthusiasm high to give something to the team, what he gives in the locker room no one can give. It’s a charisma. I completely understand that not playing affects you, it happens to everyone who loves Modric. The fans, his teammates, the coach… who also loves him,” he added.
