The Marilyn Monroe dress worn by Kim Kardashian suffered damage

The garment, used at this year’s Met Gala, was part of the actress’s collection and was worn by Marilyn Monroe in the iconic “Happy Birthday Mr President”

It went wrong! Apparently, the iconic Marilyn Monroe dress worn by Kim Kardashian at the 2022 Met Gala is damaged. At least that’s what the Instagram page ‘The Marilyn Monroe Collection’ points out, the official profile of the historian and collector Scott Fortner, who owns a private collection of the actress’s objects.

At the time of the Met Gala, Kim was heavily criticized for being a museum piece, as the piece is very symbolic and important. The dress, sewn on the body of Marilyn Monroe, was worn to sing “happy birthday“for the President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, in the 1960s. The piece, in a nude tone, is covered with sparkles and has been preserved for its historical value since his death.

Kim and the Met Gala 2022:

Kim Kardashian is certainly one of the most anticipated figures on the Met Gala red carpet. Always with a breathtaking look, in this edition the entrepreneur has created the Marilyn Monroe dress for the occasion. According to Kim herself, she felt honored to wear her garment and that she represented the “Golden charm“, dress code required for this year’s red carpet.

She also claimed that she lost 7 kg to put on the dress and that, even so, it didn’t quite fit her. And the proof of that is that she came in with some kind of fur to mask the closure of the garment. After walking through the red carpet, Kim swapped Marilyn Monroe’s dress for a replica of her, to feel more comfortable than her.

Damaged part:

A little over a month after the event, Scott Fortner revealed that the Marilyn Monroe piece had been damaged by using Kim. On his Instagram, the historian posted a series of posts commenting on exactly where the damage was and comparing the pre and post Met Gala 2022 piece. Check it out below:
