Woman files lawsuit in New York nearly 50 years after alleged abuse. This is the second accusation of sexual violence against minors in the 1970s against the singer; she denied the first case and did not comment on the second
In New York, there is no statute of limitations for some sex crimes, which is why he was able to file a lawsuit.
This is the second allegation of child sexual abuse against Steven Tyler. Last year he was accused of a woman who said she was abused at age 16also in the 70s. Among his accusations is an episode narrated by the singer himself in his autobiography. But he denied the accusation. He was contacted by TMZ to talk about the new case, but had no comment.
TMZ says it has accessed documents from Jeanne Bellino’s lawsuit. She claims to have worked as a model and was invited by a friend to a party where she could meet the musicians of Aerosmith.
After that, she was on the street, in New York, with Steven Tyler and his team, when the singer threw her into a phone booth, grabbed her, kissed her forcefully and started rubbing himself against her. The woman claims that she managed to escape after a while, that she went with the group to a hotel, and there Steven Tyler also tried to grab her by force.
Then she fled the hotel and took a taxi home, where she immediately told her sister what had happened. TMZ doesn’t specify the date the alleged abuse occurred, but says the incident described in the indictment dates back “nearly 50 years.”
Steven Tyler denied the first charge
In early 2023, the singer denied allegations that he sexually abused a woman under the age of 16 in the 1970s and was formally indicted for the crime in February.
Second Julia Misley, formerly known as Julia Holcomb, the singer allegedly committed sexual assault against her and forced her to have an abortion after an unwanted pregnancy. She was 16 at the time and he was 25.
The victim, now 65, also accuses the singer of drugging her to obtain legal guardianship for the teenager to travel on tour with the artist.
The action is based on Tyler’s memoir, The noise in my head bothers you, in which he himself states that he “almost got engaged to a teenage girl.” “His parents fell in love with me and signed a custody document so that I wouldn’t be arrested. I took her on tour with me,” he says in the work.
According to the magazine Rolling Stone, the musician’s defense sent a document to the court where the case is taking place in Los Angeles, United States, with a series of statements. Tyler claims that the sexual relationship was consensual and that he had immunity because he was Julia’s legal guardian at the time.
It also states that the woman “suffered no injury or harm as a result of any action” she took. In her indictment, Julia had argued that remembering her experience in the singer’s book had made her relive her traumas and had brought her “involuntary infamy”.
In response to Tyler’s defense, Julia’s lawyer, Jeff Anderson, released a statement in which he classified the singer’s response as “gaslighting” – a form of psychological abuse in which information is distorted to favor the abuser . For him, the singer is “using false legal protection to avoid prosecution for sexual crimes”.
