Attacked from the left, Leda Nagle meets Bolsonarist Regina Duarte

The two were colleagues at Globo and today they are the object of hostility because they are associated with the far right

Away from TV since 2018, Regina Duarte holds a series of meetings at the Aqua Arte shop, in São Paulo, where she exhibits and sells her canvases made with elements of nature, such as leaves and tree remains.

So far, besides her daughter, actress Gabriela Duarte, only one other celebrity has appeared to verify the TV veteran’s talent in the visual arts.

On Saturday (11), Leda Nagle paid tribute to Regina. Former presenter of ‘Jornal Hoje’ (Globo) and ‘Sem Censura’ (TVE / TV Brasil), she recorded the moment. “Loved going to meet her, honey,” she wrote.

The two have in common the positioning against the left. For this reason they were also “cancelled” during the presidency of Jair Bolsonaro and continue to suffer hostility on social media because they are seen as supporters of far-right discourse.

Regina remains loyal to her former boss, for whom she served as Culture Secretary in 2020. In a recent post of photos of the former president on her Instagram page, she wrote of him: “The symbol par excellence of Brazil’s greatness.”

The League denies having engaged in ideological activism. “He is not left-wing, (they already call her) far-right, Bolsonarist, Nazi,” she complained in an interview on Rica Perrone’s channel.

Now engaged in carrying out interviews for digital platforms, the presenter – cousin of the openly left-wing journalist Fernando Gabeira, of GloboNews – criticizes the press that takes sides on the political spectrum. “When I was on TV, people weren’t activists, they were journalists.”
