Seu Jorge receives the title of Ambassador of Brazilian Culture awarded to him by the MinC

The honor was established with a ministerial order published this Monday 27th; the title does not include remuneration or an employment relationship with the Union

OR Ministry of Culture (MinC) created, this Monday 27th, the title of Ambassador of Brazilian Culture and Seu Jorge is the first to receive the title. The honor was established with Ordinance no. 95, published this Monday 27th in the Official Journal of the Union.

According to the MinC, the title recognizes the exceptional and important trajectory of Your Jorge in various artistic fields. “An actor who participated, like others, in the process of strengthening and internationalization of Brazilian cinema, Seu Jorge also boasts a consolidated and successful musical career in Brazil and abroad”, reads a note from the Ministry.

According to the ordinance, the title does not guarantee a paid position. “The exercise of the title of ‘Ambassador of Brazilian Culture’ is considered provision of the relevant public service, unpaid and does not entail the recognition of the employment relationship”, reads the document.

In practice, what happens is that the person awarded the title automatically grants, upon acceptance of the honour, their image rights to the Union, which will be able to transfer them freely, without any cost to the Union. “The expectation is that Seu Jorge can, on the basis of his national and international performances and screenings, support the construction of actions that strengthen ties with the countries of the African continent, the Caribbean and the diaspora, through cinema, music and art”, we read in a note from MinC.

Furthermore, the recipient may be invited to national and international events, by appointment, and will collaborate in the amplification of initiatives and the international promotion of Brazil, including on their social networks and public pages and in collaboration with public government pages and networks. .
