Actress Ilka Soares died at the age of 89 in Rio de Janeiro. She had been hospitalized for ten days at the São Vicente Clinic, in Gávea, in the southern area of the state capital, and was being treated for lung cancer.
Considered a muse in the 1950s and 1960s, Ilka made her film debut in 1949 in the film “Iracema” and passed through the studios of Vera Cruz and Atlântida. She has starred in ‘O Cafona’ (1971), ‘Locomotives’ (1977), ‘Body to Body’ (1984) and ‘Queen of Scrap’ (1990). (* Text being updated)
