Remember the shocking divorce between Princess Diana and King Charles III

The royal marriage, which gave birth to William and Harry, was surrounded by controversy over infidelity

Diana Spencer and Charles Philip Arthur George married in 1981, becoming Princess Diana and the Prince of Wales. The marriage, which officially lasted 15 years, gave birth to Princes William and Harry and was surrounded by controversy. So, remember the messy royal divorce.

In 1994, Charles revealed his infidelity on prime time English TV. The prince, in fact, had a relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles – his current wife – and other women. “There were three people at the wedding, so it was a little crowded,” Lady Di revealed in an interview.

At the time, Diana also revealed that she was having an affair with cavalry officer James Hewitt. However, the couple was already separated but had not made the divorce official. The official separation, in fact, occurred only 4 years later.

The event was one of the biggest scandals involving the British crown. This is because, in addition to the betrayals, Prince Charles revealed in an interview, before the separation, that he never loved his wife. Furthermore, Diana was acclaimed by the population, as she was known as “the people’s princess”. For this reason Camilla began to be persecuted by the media and labeled as the ‘most hated woman in Britain’.

With the end of the marriage, Diana assumed the title Princess of Wales. However, Charles asked for the post to be removed. That way, Lady Di was obliged to revere the royal family, including her own children.

In 1997 Diana died in Paris, the victim of a car accident. Eight years later, Carlo and Camilla make their union official.
