If you want to prepare yourself for the biggest celebration of the LGBTQIA + community, be sure to check out the playlist

In addition to Festa Junina and Valentine’s Day, June celebrates another important date, Pride Month! After two years, the LGBT Parade in Sao Paulo takes place again in person and is scheduled for this Sunday, June 19, in Paulista Avenue, starting at 10:00. In an atmosphere of animation and preparation for one of the largest events of the genre in the world, a playlist full of symbolic successes cannot be missing.
That’s why we’ve put together a playlist of songs from artists celebrating that love is love, from classic hits to the latest songs from the most powerful voices in today’s music. Each of these songs captures the spirit and strength of the LGBTQIA + community in all its wonderful diversity. Watch:
“True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper
This iconic Grammy-winning pop ballad is also an inspirational anthem that has taken on special meaning in the LGBTQ + community, which Lauper has long supported. “I see your true colors / And that’s why I love you,” she sings. “So don’t be afraid to show them / Their true colors are as beautiful as a rainbow.”
“Born thus” by Lady Gaga
No playlist is complete without this song from Lady Gaga, a longtime LGBTQ + icon who is also bisexual. She proclaims, “It doesn’t matter gay, straight or bi / Lesbian, transgender life / I’m on the right track baby / I was born to survive.” The song (and album) later inspired Gaga’s non-profit organization, the Born This Way Foundation.
“Vogue” by Madonna
Inspired by the late 1980s Harlem dance scene, Madonna’s “Vogue” is an iconic classic that brought the tradition of fashion into mainstream pop. With its catchy house and disco rhythm, the song celebrates the escape on the dance floor.
“Girls like girls” by Hayley Kiyoko
“Girls Like Girls” put Hayley Kiyoko on the map as an up and coming singer in 2015 – and catapulted her onto the road to earning the nickname “Lesbian Jesus”. The song itself is a charming lesbian anthem, not to mention the lovely music video, with lyrics like “Girls love girls / Like boys do / Nothing new”.
“I’m coming out” by Diana Ross
Chic’s Nile Rodgers was apparently inspired to write this funky ’80s dance hit for Diana Ross after seeing several drag queens dressed up as a singer at a gay club in New York. Since then, the song has become an enabling and celebratory LGBTQ + anthem.
“Closer” than Tegan and Sara
Featuring a catchy synth-pop beat that’s hard not to dance to together, this hit song from lesbian twin sisters Tegan and Sara Quin is a queer-friendly party song that belongs on all pride playlists, especially since the video musical portrays friends and lovers of all genres at a love party.
“I want to get rid” of Queen
No pride playlist would be complete without legendary rock band Queen. Featuring the powerful voice of Freddie Mercury, “I Want to Break Free” is a classic emancipatory song about the desire for freedom and independence. And if you’ve never seen the music video with the entire band in disguise, watch it now.
Panic’s “Girls / Girls / Boys”! In the disco
On this captivating song from 2013, which celebrates bisexuality and polyamory, Panic! At The Disco sings: “Girls love girls and boys / And love is not a choice.” The singer himself, Brendan Urie, declared himself pansexual in 2018 and has long been a supporter of LGBTQ + rights.
