Mario Frias says that the image of Dom Corleone defines him

Former Culture Secretary Mario Frias posted a photo of the film “The Godfather 2” (1974) on his social media and wrote next to it: “The phrase and image that define me”.

The picture shows the family of mobster Don Corleone, the crime boss in Francis Ford Coppola’s classic, played by Robert De Niro.

The post raised doubts about sincericide. There were those who preferred to believe it was just ignorance. Some recalled the slander that Frias went to the Venice Biennale to represent Brazil in homage to Lina Bo Bardi without knowing who the great architect was.

He completed the work with the phrase that defines it, a famous quote by the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe about a suicide: “He is the happiest man, king or peasant, who finds peace in his home”.

Which again raised doubts about sincericide.
