Globo confirmed Jade Picon in her next nine o’clock soap opera, “Travessia”. The official profile of the channel posted a photo with the full cast of the attraction, indicating her participation in the plot. She appears sitting in the front row.
The former BBB and influencer will work with artists known to the public, such as Alexandre Nero, Chay Suede, Rômulo Estrela, Lucy Alves, Giovanna Antonelli, Alessandra Negrini, Vanessa Giácomo, Rodrigo Lombardi, Drica Moraes, Humberto Martins, Ailton Graça, Dandara Mariana and Bel Kutner, also in the photo.
Jade Picon’s debut as an actress has generated controversy, with several protests from actors and demonstrations from the Sated-RJ (Sindicato dos Artistas do Rio de Janeiro). The organization’s president, Hugo Gross, even regretted Globo’s choice, saying he didn’t think it was right “for her to take a space” from the actors, and hopes to see all the documentation to allow Jade to work as an actress. .
Either way, Jade isn’t the first former BBB to become a soap opera actress. Juliana Alves went from “BBB 3” to “Chocolate com Pimenta” (2005) and Grazi Massafera from “BBB 5” directly to “Páginas da Vida” (2006). Nine years later, Grazi was nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Actress for “Secret Truths”.
Additionally, there are several former models among the highest paid actresses in the country, a tradition that dates back to Vera Fischer in the 1970s and still goes strong these days by Camila Queiroz.
In the plot, Jade will experience a character with a profile similar to her: a very connected influencer on social media, who will have to deal with the evil of the internet, including the famous fake news. And, apparently, she will be on the bad side, forming a romantic couple with Chay Suede.
Written by Gloria Perez and under the artistic direction of Mauro Mendonça Filho, “Travessia” has the mission to succeed the “Pantanal” phenomenon. The first is scheduled for October.
