Zagallo died on Friday (05), aged 92. After dealing a few days in hospital in Rio, the former player and coach of the Brazilian national team died due to failure more organs.

This Sunday (07), Zagallo’s body was buried at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederation, in Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio, the funeral wake was open to the public and began at 9:30.

Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, Léo Batista and other sports personalities were present at the funeral wake. Zagallo’s body also received tributes from sports fans present on site this morning.

Zagallo’s last publication on social media took place in September 2023. In it, the former player celebrated the discharge received after 22 days hospitalized. On that occasion Zagallo I was treating a urinary tract infection.

“What a joy! After 22 days spent in hospital to treat a urinary tract infection, I was discharged and returned home! I would like to thank every person who, in some way, participated in my recovery! Special thanks to my doctor , Dr. Marcia Ladeira and her semi-intensive nursing team!,” she wrote.
