Grag Queen launches an international partnership: “Drag queens are the new super stars”

Winner of the reality show “Queen of the Universe” released the song “You Betta” with producers Britney Spears and Camila Cabello

In this month of diversity, the singer Queen Grag is bringing all Brazilian drag art to the international market. The winner of the reality show queen of the universe released the song You Betta on 12 June and, currently, the clip already has more than 200 thousand views.

This new work is a partnership with producers Leland, Cole and Jesse, responsible for the successes of Britney Spears, Camila Cabello, little Rexa, David Guetta And Nosy dogamong others.

“We got together to do a session and this song came, the universe presented us with these crazy lyrics. We wanted to unite this drag universe and, at the same time, be more pop,” said the artist.

Regarding the creation process and the inspiration of this new work, Grag explains that he wanted a “very gringa” creation. “Since the song was in English, I wanted to do something robotic, futuristic. Since I was living this fantasy, I thought, ‘I’m going to be the different one.’

Precisely because it is an opera in English, the singer explains that it is a production aimed at the international market. “A lot of strangers consume songs like this, plus concepts. I’m turning into something a bit like Mystique, from X-Menhe looks different every day, “he jokes.

Representativeness

Even with this expansion of her career, the reality show winner queen of the universe states that the Brazilian resistance culture is much more diverse. “We’re a lot crazier. We don’t have access to what cats have here,” she begins.

“This sets us apart, we are those people who do not drag ourselves for money, we do it because we love to look beautiful, participate in the night and work. I think this is incredible and this is the fire that burns in us and moves us,” he reiterates.

Grag concludes by concluding that his representation is part of a natural movement that occurred over time. “Drag queens are the new super pop stars. We change our hair every time we show up, we change our makeup, we change the color of our eyes, we are very political.”

“We easily enter people’s homes, we are in the Tic knock, in the fashion shows, in everything. Like all people in the LGBT + community, we deserve notoriety, “she says.
