Court orders Alcione hearing to be sealed if owners fail to submit accounts and comply with injunction

The judiciary of the State of Rio de Janeiro has ruled that a bar in Rio de Janeiro is named after Alcyone be sealed if the owners of the place are not identified by the courts. The singer sued the establishment in October 2023 for failure to pay for the use of the image.

He accuses the entrepreneur Vinícius Correa, who manages the place, of not having paid the rights to use the image requested by the artist. Called “Bar Alcione, A Casa da Marrom”, the place is located in Barra da Tijucain the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

Already in December, an injunction had established that the bar had to stop using Alcione’s name on any virtual or physical channel, under penalty of a daily fine of R$ 5,000. The owners of the place, however, did not comply with the request and did not respond to the court summons.

Thus, judge André LM Marques ordered to increase the fine to R$ 10,000 and decided that, if the owners of the bar are not located within three attempts, the place will have to be sealed.

The singer allowed the use of the name in 2020, on the condition that she acquire a share of the bar’s profits, but does not agree with the company’s responsibility. She also claims that payments made to the artist are late.

OR Estadao tried to contact Bar Alcione, but so far has not received any response. The space remains open.
