Evaristo Costa remains in intensive care and says his Crohn’s disease is in remission

The journalist has been hospitalized in a hospital in Cambridge, UK, since last week

The journalist and presenter Evaristo Costa remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom, where he lives with his family, due to complications related to Crohn’s disease.

This Monday, the 15th, the journalist used his social networks to update the public on his state of health. Evaristo showed part of his routine in hospital since last Friday the 12th.

In a note released by his advisor, he informs us that there has been progress in his condition, but that his discharge is not yet expected. “Evaristo Costa is recovering clearly, without pain and in excellent spirits. Crohn’s disease has gone into remission and the infection has responded well to antibiotics,” the note reads.

“Although it is only good news, doctors have deemed it appropriate to continue with intravenous therapy, which is why the presenter does not yet have an expected discharge date,” the statement concludes.

Evaristo was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a gastrointestinal tract disorder, four years ago. On Friday the 12th he complained of severe abdominal pain, as well as fever, weight loss and diarrhea.

The presenter said he felt vulnerable. “Low immunity leaves my body open to viruses and bacteria, like what happened to my leg a month ago. If I don’t take care of myself, I can get complications like anemia and serious infections.”

In November last year, Evaristo Costa was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with erysipelas, a skin infection on his leg.

Despite his hospitalization, the journalist appears in good spirits on his Instagram stories.
