Alexa Devni rose to fame after being ridiculed on Portuguese TV for her protruding ears before undergoing gender transition

The Portuguese press reports that Alexa Devni and the SIC channel have entered into a financial agreement to withdraw the legal action that the young woman had undertaken initially asking for 100 thousand euros, equal to R$530 thousand. The amount that will be paid was not disclosed.

Before coming out as trans, he said he was male and used his name, Daniel Rebelo. This is how he auditioned for ‘Ídolos’ in 2015. He did not pass the first evaluation.

Unknown to him, the program showed a video with a graphic effect that increased the size of his protruding ears. There was an explicit intention to make the audience laugh at the student’s physical characteristics.

The mockery on national television increased the bullying Daniel was already experiencing and left him depressed. He spent some time without leaving the house to avoid teasing.

After discovering that she was transsexual, she renamed herself Alexa Devni. She, fatherless and without contact with her mother, ended up on the street after the death of her grandmother who had welcomed her. She was unable to pay the rent on her own. She started living on donations and a little help from the government.

In January 2022, the young woman suffered a physical assault when she refused to talk to a stranger in a bar. She was punched in the face. She lost consciousness and hit her head.

“I was attacked out of pure prejudice, out of homophobia. While we waited for the police, she continued to insult me, saying that I didn’t deserve to live,” he told the media. In the hospital she posted a message on social media.

“We are all different and deserve respect. This doesn’t just happen to me, but to other LGBT people. This must be stopped. We too deserve to live.”

Last year, still living in precarious conditions despite appeals on television programs and promises of help, Alexa Devni published an outburst.

“I’m tired of people using me, deceiving me, playing with my feelings, I’m tired of this life. I would rather not have been born, that people would use me and throw me away like garbage.
