Oscar 2024: here is Lily Gladstone, nominated for “Best Actress”

Lily Gladstone made history by becoming the first Native American woman to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. Recently, with the publication of the list of Oscar 2024 nominees, she reached another milestone: she is the second indigenous person to receive an Oscar nomination for best actress.

As much as Lily has emerged into the spotlight in recent months, with her participation in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” her career began much earlier. Her film debut took place in 2012, with “Intensive Therapy”. Furthermore, between 2016 and 2019 you collaborated with director Kelly Reichardt on some productions.

A fun fact about Lily Gladstone is that she uses the pronouns she/elu. Last year she explained that she likes the use of gender neutral because of her ancestry. “In most Native languages, in most Indigenous languages, including Blackfeet, there are no gender pronouns. There’s no he/she, there’s just elu,” she explained at the time. “The use of pronouns for me is partly a way to decolonize gender,” she finally declared.

It is worth mentioning that Lily Gladstone is competing for the Oscar for best actress for her performance in “Killers of the Flower Moon”. She is competing for the award along with Emma Stone, of “Poor Creatures”, Annette Bening, of “Nyad”, Sandra Hüller, of “Anatomy of a Fall” and Carey Mulligan, with “Maestro”.
