Globo strengthens the security of William Bonner and Renata Vasconcellos

The broadcaster increased security for Jornal Nacional anchors after the faction acronyms were released

Globo needed to strengthen the security of the anchors of the Jornal Nacional and the journalists who would have to replace them, in case of leave. This is because the TV channel started using acronyms referring to criminal factions, which had not been advertised before.

Now, both William Bonner and Renata Vasconcellos and other anchors, who may take over the Jornal Nacional, will have greater security from Globo due to the publication of these acronyms.

However, other media follow the rule of not mentioning criminal factions. In reality, this practice aims to not distribute posters to these groups, as well as protect employees.

However, Globo believes that by not identifying the factions, it would leave public opinion confused as to the paternity of some crimes reported in the newspapers. The decision to name these groups was discussed in several internal meetings, according to the Ig portal.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that the TV channel has talked about the safety of these employees. This is because Renata Vasconcellos was almost taken hostage, on another occasion, inside the studios. Furthermore, during the coverage of the presidential elections, the security system of the anchors of the Jornal Nacional was also reviewed.
