Tribute was paid to the actress’s philanthropic work in helping people suffering from brain injuries
The actress Emilia Clarke and his mother, Jennifer Clarke, received a tribute from Prince William at Windsor Castle last Wednesday, the 21st, receiving the recognition of Members of the Order of the British Empire. The interpreter of Daenerys Targaryen game of Thrones was recognized for her work on behalf of people suffering from brain injuries.
“From Westeros to Windsor, it is a real pleasure to honor Emilia Clarke and her mother, Jennifer, for their charitable work with [a instituição] SameYou, supporting brain injury recovery treatment,” reads the post shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales on Instagram.
The SameYou Institute was created by Clarke to help treat people who have suffered brain injuries and strokes.
“Receiving an award like this is the icing on the cake,” the actress said in the video post. “I’ll take a photo for this award. And people will say, ‘Why did this person, who we recognized, win this award?’ And we’ll say, ‘It’s for brain injury recovery.'”
The actress herself has already suffered two aneurysms, one in 2011 and another in 2013, while still playing Daenarys in game of Thrones. According to her, part of her brain is “no longer usable.” Emilia therefore recognizes that she is part of a minority who suffers from the disease and maintains the ability to speak and live normally, without serious consequences.
