Writer Roseana Murray is attacked by pit bulls in RJ; the condition is serious

The writer and poet from Rio Roseana Murray73 years old, was attacked by three dogs of the breed pitbull this Friday the 5th in Saquarema, in the lake region Rio de Janeiro.

The accident occurred early in the morning in the Gravatá neighborhood and, according to the State Department of Health, Roseana’s condition is considered serious.

The writer, injured in the head and arms, was rescued by firefighters and taken to the Alberto Torres state hospital in São Gonçalo.

The case was registered at the 124th DP, in Saquarema, where the owner of the animals was sent after the incident. He released a statement on the spot and, according to the Civil Police, the facts are still being ascertained.

Who is Roseana Murray?

Roseane Murray is a major name in children’s literature and has books published by the country’s largest publishers, such as Breaths of Light (Scarlet, seal of the Companhia das Letras) e Gardens (Global Publishing Group).

The writer was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1950. Graduated in French Literature and Language in 1973 from the University of Nancy, she has published more than 100 books and received important awards, such as “The Best of Poetry” from National Book Foundation Children and Youth (FNLIJ) in 1986, 1990 and 1997. Gardens, received the Brazilian Academy of Letters Award for children’s books in 2002.

Roseane is also on the IBBY International Organization’s Honor List, which includes the world’s best writers of children’s literature. She maintains a YouTube channel, where she presents her books to the public.
