The series turns 13 this Wednesday (17)
We have therefore collected the places used by the series as the setting of George RR Martin’s universe:
Croatia
Dubrovnik is one of the most mentioned places when talking about the filming of “Game of Thrones”. The city appears as the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, King’s Landing.
Additionally, Split, also in Croatia, was used to simulate Meereen.
In fact, several tours around the country focus only on locations that appeared in the series, such as Diocletian’s Palace, the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola and much more.
Spain
In Spain, the Andalusia region has been well explored to bring more desert scenery to “Game of Thrones.” In Seville, the Real Álcazar served as a palace. Furthermore, the Plaza de Toros de Osuna was the scene of one of the battles in the fifth season of the series.
northern Ireland
Castle Ward has been used many times to provide the setting for Winterfell. In fact, there are several tours in the region to delve into the world of “Game of Thrones”.
Iceland
For those who appreciated the love scene between Jon Snow and Ygritte, it’s your turn! The Grjótagjá cave was the backdrop for the famous scene between the two in season three.
Furthermore, Mount Kirkjufell also appears a lot in scenes from the series, always covered in a lot of snow.
Malta
Finally we have Malta, which participated in the first recordings of “Game of Thrones” as the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as Dubrovnik in Croatia. There the walled city of Mdina was chosen.
So, how about booking a trip themed around the series?
