The former BBB Matteus, born in Alegrete, a city in Rio Grande do Sul, also engaged in the campaign for the victims and managed to raise R$ 1 million in 12 hours. “They are terrifying scenes, things that leave us shocked, in a state of desperation, without knowing exactly what we will do to try to help,” he lamented, and thanked those helping the campaign in a video published this Friday, 3.

The actress Tais Araujo asked followers to donate to a fundraiser and also to CUFA. “Landslides, floods, missing people, homeless people and people in great need of actions and donations to start again. Below is the information for those who can help. Those who cannot donate, share to reach those who can, so we can help some. At this moment the Rio Great South needs all of Brazil,” he wrote.
The state’s worst climate disaster
The number of victims of the floods that hit the region has exceeded the total number of victims of the tragedy caused by an extratropical cyclone in September. Of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, 300 are affected by the storms.
In Porto Alegre, the level of the Guaíba river has reached a record level, flooded the streets of the historic center and the bus station, as well as forcing several residents to abandon their homes. Salgado Filho airport has suspended operations.
