Gilberto Gil, who will turn 82 this Wednesday, 26, spoke about the use of the drug.

As a young man I wanted to “discover things”: “One of them was experiments with state of consciousness expanders, so I think it was in line, compatible with a moment in life, my age, my impulse at that moment,” he said .

“It was natural in my life to have those impulses and desires that led me to those habits and practices,” continued Gil, who confessed that marijuana was not the only drug he tried: “For many years I experimented with cannabis, peyote, lysergic acid, ayahuasca, I tried different transformers, consciousness expanders because, after all, they were commonplace for my people, for my generation, for my peers, for my colleagues,” he said.

The singer said he continues to use marijuana, but that it is “less and less frequent.” “I have no impulse, no desire to force the processes of transforming reality through mental situations because I don’t want to, I don’t have it anymore.”

“I don’t even have enough energy for that.
