The presenters who left Globo will be the channel’s competitors at the Paris Games

Fátima Bernardes and Fernanda Gentil should attract many Brazilians to the Internet who previously only watched the Olympics on TV

Globo has the exclusive rights to broadcast the Paris Olympic Games on open and closed TV. But it will have strong competition on the Internet, with the participation of two former stars of its cast.

A muse for major sporting events, Fátima Bernardes makes her debut as host of the project ‘Paris é Brasa’, by the Play9 agency, whose partners include influencer Felipe Neto and former Globo reporter João Pedro Paes Leme.

In collaboration with Team Brasil, the Olympic Committee, and YouTube, the team led by the presenter will interview the athletes, comment on the results of the competitions and show behind the scenes.

Fátima, 61, ended her relationship with Globo at the end of 2023, after 37 uninterrupted years on the channel. After the end of ‘The Voice Brasil’, there was no short-term plan. The journalist could return soon, given that she is negotiating a program she created with the artistic direction.

Your relationship with Globo is excellent. So much so that she was invited to participate in a commercial action with the Spanish actor Antonio Banderas in the final of ‘Dança dos Famosos’ on ‘Domingão com Huck’. The two will dance the tango in the July 7 edition.

Being in Paris for a few weeks to follow the games will have an added advantage for Fátima: she will be close to her son, Vinícius, who lives in the French capital, where he works as a manager at a technology company.

Another former Globo player who is strengthening the competition is Fernanda Gentil, 37. At the beginning of 2023, when she found herself in the station’s ‘fridge’, she preferred to leave to give a new direction to her career rather than continue receiving a salary without producing anything until the end of her contract.

Shortly after leaving the Marinho family business, where she worked for 15 years, the presenter was hired by CazéTV, owned by streamer Casimiro Miguel, to cover football championships.

Gentil will be present in the daily program ‘Tamo em Paris’, available on YouTube and on the Twitch streaming platform, with a summary of the main Olympic competitions.

Fátima and Fernanda demonstrate that there is interesting life outside the mighty Globe. And the presence of both at the event scheduled from 26 July to 11 August has a special value: the first represents the vitality of women 60+, the second gives media visibility to the LGBT+ community.
