The journalist Renata Varandas has been disconnected from Record TV this Thursday, 18, because part of his interview with the current President of the Republic, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).

It all started on Tuesday the 16th, when Renata Varandas interviewed Lula at Palácio do Planalto, in Brasilia. The interview was conducted and recorded around 9:30, and was to be broadcast in its entirety on Jornal da Record, the main news program of the station, on the air at 19:55.

A text released by the brokerage firm BGC and attributed to Capital Advice, a political analysis firm of which Renata Varandas, the interviewer, is one of three partners, confirmed the leak of the content.

In the text, the company said it had forwarded Lula’s statement to investors. The president reportedly said he still had to be convinced of the need for spending cuts and that the fiscal target did not necessarily have to be met, although he pledged to respect the fiscal framework.

Still on Tuesday 18, around 12:20, the effects of Lula’s speech – even without having been officially announced by the press – were already causing changes. The dollar began to accelerate against the real.
