“My cancer has come back in four different places,” Preta Gil reveals

Preta Gil took to social media this Sunday, 25th, to update his health status and informed his fans that the the cancer has returned in four different parts of the body. She recently underwent treatment for bowel cancer, which was diagnosed in 2023.

Last Thursday, the 22nd, the singer announced that she had been admitted to the Sírio Libanês hospital, in São Paulo, to resume cancer treatment after routine tests.

“I had bowel cancer. I was treated and healed. The doctors released me to lead a nearly normal life, I was doing very well in my rehabilitation. And I have to do periodic tests while I am in remission, a period of five years in which the cancer can return. And so it has been,” the artist began.

Now, Preta explained that the disease is in four parts of the body: “My cancer has returned in four different places. I have two lymph nodes, a metastasis, which is in the peritoneum, and a module in the ureter.”

Despite the scare, the singer stressed that the return of the disease is common in treatment: “We were all surprised by this new diagnosis. It is more common than you might think, but it is a big scare.”

To further overcome this chapter, Preta has already started treatment at full speed. Still in the hospital, she will have to remain under observation until Monday 26, then she will return home for another 12 days.

“We started treatment that same day. I did additional tests on Wednesday and started chemotherapy on Thursday, which ended its first cycle today. I’m staying in the hospital for another 24 hours for observation. I’m going home, staying home for another 12 days and going back to the hospital. In other words, my cancer treatment routine is back,” she explained.

The singer also said that she is doing well and feeling better than when she was diagnosed with the disease last year.

“I’m fine, my head is fine. Much better than when I started treatment in 2023. I’m a different black man. Full of desire to live, surrounded by love. This time I’m really better at dealing with tumors,” he added.
