Fathers and sons: Russian stars who have a difficult relationship with their parents

The parents are not chosen. And in principle, changing a person is always difficult (if not impossible). The heroes of our selection, parents and famous children, do not hide: they have a difficult relationship, but that does not prevent them from loving each other.

Maria Mashkova, like her father Vladimir Mashkov, fell in love with cinema unconditionally and followed in her footsteps – she became an actress. And yet, over the years, neither kinship nor the same profession have brought them closer. These are political opinions that diverge as much as possible.

Previously, this practically did not interfere with communication between father and daughter: they simply did not touch politics. But today is different. In March 2022, Maria, who now lives in the United States with her family, admitted that her father had accused her of treason over disagreement with Kremlin policy regarding the military operation and asked her to ” immediately return to Russia with her daughters, to be a good Russian woman, to ask forgiveness for the betrayal.

Needless to say, the actress disobeyed her father, continuing to express her point of view – completely opposite to her famous relative. Mashkova isn’t sure she can return to Russia even if she wants to, and what’s happening in Ukraine now, she says, is “unthinkable and is beyond my head.”

Alesya Kafelnikova started her modeling career early. The girl’s father, titled Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov, was proud of his daughter at first, then a black cat ran between them. For different reasons. In 2020, Evgeny said that his daughter could not cope with drug and alcohol addiction and he was tired of fighting it.

Alesya responded by accusing her father of lying. “I want to start by saying that I love this person very much, but I haven’t communicated with him for a long time, I tried very hard to establish our communication, but every time it brought me to a depression nervous and suicidal thoughts, it pains me to see how my own father performs in front of the public,” admitted Kafelnikova.

“I’m not going to do what he wants, namely: I don’t want to marry the man he promised to ‘give me’ to, I don’t want to live in his house, where a girl is already in charge just a few years older than I. I don’t want to hear that I’m not her child and I have to take a DNA test, that I’m a terrible girl, since I decided to pursue a modeling career, like a mother, and to travel. I want to apologize to everyone for this interview he gave. And I want to apologize to everyone he hurt,” Alesya added.

Sometimes father and daughter reconcile, then argue again, and the rest of the time they try to keep the mentality.

Lidia Fedoseeva-Shukshina is a mother of many children, but her relationship with her daughters can hardly be called close and trusting. The eldest, Anastasia, has been offended by her mother for many years and does not want to get to know her, the younger, Olga, also has complaints. And only the middle one, Maria, who followed in the footsteps of her parents and also became an actress, was able to maintain a more or less normal relationship with her mother.

Although, of course, the debate between mother and daughter arises. For example, Maria was strongly against her mother’s marriage to Bari Alibasov and did not even come to the wedding, which was trumpeted by the whole country. Also in the Shukshin family, scandals arise from time to time with the participation of some relatives – just have time to delve into them!

Elena Yakovleva is close with her son Denis, but things don’t always go well in their relationship. Crazy admitted that when he was a child, his mother didn’t pay enough attention to him. “Of course, there were misunderstandings with the parents. I left my parents because I didn’t find a common language with them. My mother gave me ten percent of her time. I was living with my grandmother,” the guy shared. The guy’s early marriage also “gave” his gray hair, but the peculiarity of Yakovleva is that she always supported her son, even if she was afraid or fundamentally disagreed with him. Perhaps that is why in recent years mother and son have settled all the disputes and are close again in the same way as many years ago.
