Arlette Pinheiro Esteves da Silva She adopted her current stage name at the age of 15, when she began working as a radio announcer, writer and actress at Rádio Ministério da Educação e Cultura, in Rio de Janeiro.

In 1950 she was the first actress hired by Tupi TV, quickly gaining prominence. In 1965 Fernanda signed a contract with Globo, but her debut in the network’s soap operas occurred only in 1981, with “Dance with me”. On TV, Fernanda’s other notable works are: “The Mother’s Daughters” (2001), ‘Beautiful’ (2005), ‘Passion’ (2010), ‘Babylon’ (2015) e “The Other Side of Heaven” (2017).

International career

In the 1990s she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for ‘Central do Brazil’ (1998), being the first Latin American woman to receive this honor. Although she didn’t win, Fernanda won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for the same role.
