Singer Iza gave birth to her first daughter, Nala, on Sunday the 13th. The little girl is the result of the artist’s relationship with footballer Yuri Lima. The baby’s birth was announced by her parents by sharing a photo showing the little girl’s hand, and the picture quickly went viral. Accustomed to photographing the singer on stage, this was an almost unprecedented experience for Carol, who had only photographed her sister’s births, when her two nephews were born. The repercussions were positive and in just one day he gained more than 6 thousand followers on his Instagram profile.

The professional relationship with Iza has become a great friendship. Carol and the singer from Rio were always traveling together, in Brazil and at international shows. “From the beginning we were always very professional, but of course, as we interacted, a real friendship developed.” It didn’t take long for Iza to meet Carol’s family, who live in Brasilia, and soon she was even attending lunches at the family’s home.

“She is very loved by my family. She receives them with the greatest affection, everyone in the locker room and everything. So, naturally, our relationship, over the years, has become closer and more personal too,” says the photographer .

I invite you to photograph the birth

Due to Iza’s pregnancy and the stoppage of shows, Carol decided to take on projects outside of Brazil. But first he responded to the singer’s request to photograph Nala’s birth.

“One fine day, about two months ago, an audio comes in saying: ‘I really wanted you to photograph Nala’s birth, I don’t think you’ll even be in Brazil. But I wanted to tell you that if it’s not you, I just won’t have a photographer at my birth. You are the only person in the world who I imagine is there to record this moment, I wouldn’t have the birth photos.’ “I was very moved, impressed, I didn’t expect it, I was very flattered,” she recalls.

Carol says she was excited, especially since she doesn’t work with birth photos, as her focus is on recording shows and performances. She reveals that she hoped Iza would hire photographers specializing in births and celebrities to take the photos: “I told her that I would still be in Brazil, and I would do it with the greatest happiness and the greatest honor in the world.”

When the month of October arrived, anticipation for Nala’s arrival into the world only increased. “I live in Sao Paulo and she lives in Rio. So it was already agreed that we would stay tuned to receive Nala’s signals so that I would know when I could go to Rio and wait for the birth.”

Preparing for the big day

The photographer traveled to Rio on Monday, October 7 and was ready for the moment the singer went into labor.

“I no longer slept with my cell phone on silent mode, I always kept an eye on every call from her, or her mother. So I remained on guard, feeling like a doctor, to be called at any moment [risos]”, account.

When the day came, Carol stayed next to Iza the entire time, and when she gave birth, which was by cesarean section, everything happened very quickly. The photographer had to be agile to record every step, observe the most favorable light and positioning, all without losing the sensitivity of such a unique moment for the mother. “It was super quick, as expected, and it was wonderful.”

Shortly after, the photos were delivered and published on Iza’s social networks. The photo showing Nala’s little hand acquired a special meaning for the photographer. “We thought about doing Nala’s details. Close-up photos of her little ears, the top of her head, her little mouth, her little nose, her little hand… When I took that photo of her hand, I thought it was really cute.”

“It really looked like Nala’s little paw to me. I’m a huge Disney fan and I freaked out, first of all, when Iza voiced the first movie. And I freaked out when she told me that her name daughter would have been Nala. So that little hand, I also saw Nala’s paw,” he says.

Iza decided that this would be her daughter’s birth announcement photo. Soon, the fallout reached Carol, who was delighted to see the record circulating across social networks and news portals. “I saw the number of followers increase a lot, I gained about six thousand followers in one day. I thought it was very funny and also very cute. I saw some comments talking about the strength of the photo, that it seems like she is greeting the world, she is It was really nice.”

While photographing Iza’s shows is special, the opportunity to record the birth was unique for Carol. “Nothing will come close to everything we’ve experienced in the last week.
