Singer Daniela Mercury has sent an extrajudicial notification to X (formerly Twitter) to request the removal of a publication by Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The platform will have 24 hours to delete the post that presents false information in this regard. This was reported by the journalist Mônica Bergamo, from Folha de S. Paulo.

The former president’s publication, published on Wednesday (10/23), reports the news published by the Hora Brasília website, according to which the Lula government had allocated 8.3 million reals to NGOs linked to the PT and allied parties. The alleged diversion allegedly occurred through the Program of the National Culture Committee (PNCC).

The post also includes a photo of the current president next to Daniela and the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes. The singer is not mentioned in the report as an alleged recipient of public funds, but Bolsonaro writes: “The money from the tax increase for the people went back into the pockets of the ‘artist friends of Lule’, all democratically.”

Daniela’s defense

Daniela Mercury’s consultant stated that the singer did not participate in the bidding process at the PNCC nor did she receive funds from the federal government program. In addition to exclusion, it calls for a right of reply and a public retraction, in the same proportion as Bolsonaro’s initial publication.

“The aforementioned publication not only contains false information, but misleads the public, violating the ethical principles of communication and encouraging the spread of false news, and damages the honor of the reporting person Daniela”, reads an extract of the notification.

If the requests are not satisfied by the social network, Daniela will take legal action for moral and material damages, in addition to criminal liability for the subjects involved in the post. The singer’s defense also claims that the Marco Civil from the Internet has established the responsibility of providers for the removal of illegal content.

So far, X has not commented on the out-of-court notification, but the space remains open for new developments.
