At that moment the journalists were analyzing the political landscape of the United States of America, which is approaching the presidential elections, but they ended up ‘losing their hand’ in the conversation and weighing the atmosphere in the studio.
The mess started due to a gender issue highlighted in the programme. First, the journalists analyzed male behavior and their respective voting intentions in the electionthat he has Kamala Harris AND donald trump as main bets.
During the analysis, Sandra Coutinho tried to explain that the rejection of Kamala Harris, especially among black men, is due to misogyny, or prejudice against women. “I have a place to talk, for women the path is more difficult,” said the journalist, bringing her personal experience to the agenda.
Demétrio Magnoli was not open to this point of view and he didn’t agree of the collaborator. “No, no. I also have a place to speak, because I am a political analyst. I analyze the votes of all sectors of the electorate, of any country. If you say that I cannot analyze the behavior of a part of the electorate, you ban me to practice my profession,” he said, insinuating censorship.
The atmosphere in the studio On the agenda it got worse when Sandra tried to explain her point of view, but was interrupted of Demétrio, who stressed that being a commentator gave him “such a place to speak”.
The presenter then accused the analyst of doing mansplaining. The term refers to a man trying to teach a woman something she already knows, usually in a condescending and very simplistic way. In response to this, Demetrius let out a laugh, which annoyed him Sandra Coutinho. “I think it’s bad for you to laugh mockingly. I don’t do this to you; I respect your opinion,” she defended herself.
THE disagreement between Sandra Coutinho AND Demetrio Magnoli on GloboNews it didn’t go unnoticed. On the networks, but above all on X, the old Twitter, the scenes were commented on.
“I think it’s so hot when a woman responds in kind to a man who thinks he knows everything! Sandra Coutinho shamed Demétrio by explaining the misogyny of black Americans who are reluctant to vote for Kamala,” wrote a follower named Ed Santos . “I don’t have a shred of patience with Demétrio. Not even a little!”, wrote Flavia Casagrande.
There are also those who agree with Demétrio and those who criticize Sandra Coutinho. “This woman sucks. She couldn’t convince her with her arguments and then resorted to this identity nonsense,” said a man identified as Matt. “These militant leftist journalists must be mad at him for what he said the other day… I don’t even know how he’s still working GloboNews since apparently that’s right,” commented a profile called Wicked.
